Classic Spritz Cookies
This classic recipe spritz cookies is from the Kitchen Magpie. Use food coloring to make these fitting for every holiday.
makes 72 cookies | difficulty level: easy
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2/3 cup white sugar
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Food coloring (I used this natural brand) and sprinkles for decorating
- Preheat oven to 350° F
- Beat butter and sugar together until smooth and creamy.
- Stir in flour, salt, egg, vanilla extract and food coloring if desired.
- If dough is too sticky to work with, refrigerate for 30 minutes to an hour.
- Place dough in cookie press and form shapes on an ungreased cookie sheet and decorate as desired.
- Bake 8-10 minutes or until set but not brown.
- Immediately transfer to a wire rack to cool.
Notes:
For this batch, I half-dipped each cookie in melted chocolate and then topped with sprinkles.
